Kyle Kavanaugh

President/CEO

Kyle Kavanaugh has been pairing retailers and restaurants with real estate since 1987. Early in his career he was an agent with Lee and Associates in San Diego, and was employed as an in house Corporate Real Estate Manager for Blockbuster Entertainment Group. In that residence, he oversaw site selection in Southern California.

In 1994, Kyle founded Main+Main Inc. to expand his scope and to manifest his philosophy that partnership, coupled with industry knowledge, begets success… and success attracts top professionals. On that notion, he cultivated a team of leading agents in dynamic markets and set out to systematically extend the reach of retail real estate programs throughout North America. Examining Main+Main’s client base reflects that he has succeeded in that effort.

Today, Main+Main has gathered some of the highest-performing associates in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Orange County. It boasts an exclusive client list of 40+ established and nascent brands, predominantly in the Retail and Food & Beverage category. As the founding partner, Kyle is the primary guidance of the group and assists many of its clients with real estate expansion and development. You should take the time to meet with him.

Anne Singleton

Director

Anne Singleton is a 29 year veteran of commercial real estate an a 16 year practicing yogini. It merits mention because Anne’s sweeping-yet-strict training is reflected in every aspect of the business – from leasing to development to tenant representation – in its intention, its self-discipline, its thoroughness. 

A graduate of Northwestern University, Anne launched her career in real estate with specialty leasing and permanent leasing work at the Equity Grou (EGI) in Chicago. After a whirlwind tour of working at several Equity owned shopping centers, she permanently relocated to Southern California to join the Santa Monica-based REIT, Macerich, and grew to Vice President of Leasing. She played a lead role in the pre-leasing and P.R. of beach-chic Santa Monica Place, personally completing 80,000 s.f. of deals (including CB2, Nike¸ Barneys Co-Op, Burberry, Coach, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany) and directing the remaining 50,000 s.f. of deals on time for the August 2010 grand opening .

At Creative Asset Partners, Anne turned her attention to the flip-side of the deal – the tenant – where she focused on street retail, representing both landlords and tenants in West L.A. and West Hollywood. She worked on myriad SoCal retail projects, providing insight and strategy in upgrading and enhancing the existing tenant mix.

Anne joined Main + Main team in 2013, with a substantial offering: her extensive background in landlord representation and tenant transactions, and a notable expertise in contemporary retail markets.

Kristin Avjian

Associate

Kristin Avjian grew up in the territory called Orange County.

Even as a kid, with two prior generations thriving in the fields of commercial real estate and retail expansion, Kristin saw street corners as markets. By the time she graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2012, her knowledge of L.A.’s hubs and hidden corners rivaled her grasp of O.C. and she stepped into her professional destiny. 

Kristin started with Main + Main, Inc. in 2013 and represents clients such as California Fish Grill, Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, Smitten Ice Cream, Raley’s, The Melt, amongst others as an Associate. Eager to broaden her territorial base, Kristin has also targeted Northern California as a market.

From Sacramento to San Diego, California holds the key to her heart: familiarity, family… and, beaches.

Mike Clark

Executive Director

Mike Clark has a unique pedigree: 20 years of Commercial Real Estate experience. While BRE ultimately became Cushman & Wakefield, Mike remained sharpening his niche. Today, he is one of a rarified group of top retail producers in the San Diego market specializing in new-to-market clients retailers, corporate strategy, and retail/restaurant expansions. And his knack for identifying and maximizing off-market opportunities is unparalleled.

Mike has achieved impressive goals for clients like Carl’s Jr., Habit Burger, Buca di Beppo, and Urbane Cafe, as well as retailers, developers and landlords. And the accolades have followed: he was Costar Power Broker in 2009, 2010, and 2012; San Diego ICSC Chair from 2008-2011 with 11 years active committee involvement; and a member of the Leadership Development Group.

His move to Main + Main in 2016 heralds a growth opportunity for Mike, even at his level.

Ashley Knox

Associate Director

Ashley Knox does everything full tilt.

She had a nine-year career in the dining/catering industry before attending college. She chose a double major at UCI, earning degrees in both Political Science and Dramatic Arts. And, she doesn’t just enjoy the occasional Saturday afternoon, sailing with friends. She’s an ardent sailboat racer, setting course up and down both U.S. coastlines.

Perhaps, most applicably, during the three years prior to joining Main + Main in 2010, Ashley worked as a leasing agent for a large, Southern California landlord and as Advertising Sales Director for a retail real estate trade magazine. As a result, she wears her Tenant Rep hat with a whole host of insight into every negotiating position.

Today, Ashley attracts equally full-tilt clients in the food & beverage, fitness and specialty retail sectors, specifically start-ups. She was integral in the initial three-year expansion of Nekter Juice Bar, closing deals on its first 25 locations. Equinox and Soul Cycle have executed equally-ambitious rollout strategies, with Ashley’s guidance. This bent toward rapid expansion of timely, niche concepts is proving just-the-ticket for her now. But Ashley can predict the ebb and flow of retail markets, like the wind.

Denise Hance

Operations Director

Denise Hance joined Main + Main in the spring of 2015, bringing 20+ years of Operations Management experience and a unique, California-meets-country girl swagger to the firm. She obtained her PHR Certification in sunny Southern California, and spent 13 years developing two construction companies from inception, serving such biggies as the Irvine Company, Rancho Mission Viejo and other reputable Real Estate entities.

In addition to being the glue that holds this group together, Denise’s true gift lies in strategic planning and execution of follow through. She provides company-wide infrastructure development, setting up processes and procedures for all departments. Denise landed at Main + Main at the perfect time. When our clients have a need to extend their reach nationally, Denise has the brains, background, and wit to make it work.

John Rootlieb

Executive Director

John Rootlieb is true blue in every sense: a Laguna Beach native, a bodysurfer, a career Broker.

Armed with an interest in international cullinary discovery and his UCLA degree, John joined the sales team at Fox Sports Net West in 1999. The spike in sales revenue under his purview, along with new-client acquisitions, garnered attention. By 2001, he was tapped to be Sports Marketing Manager at Professional Sports Publications. But, it wasn’t his calling. In 2003, John moved to Main + Main.

From the beginning, John took to Commercial Real Estate like a dolphin to water. Today he is a prolific and highly effective Partner, expanding developing enterprises throughout Southern California, Hawaii, and Nevada. To bookend his expertise in marketing and retail expansion, John joined the Summerlin Mall Landlord-Rep Team, assisting in leasing 1.6 million square feet of retail space. He is a shining star within Chick-Fil-A, helping the company expand throughout Southern California.

John is definitely a team player. But on most teams, he is the star.

Joseph Tavormina

Director

Joe Tavormina started his career in commercial real estate in the Northeast with Marriott Corporation’s Roy Rogers, Casa Maria, Chi Chi’s Mexican Restaurants, and Cineplex Odeon Cinemas. He relocated to Southern California in the 1990 to become Senior Director of Development for Acapulco Mexican Restaurants where he managed the expansion of the Acapulco and El Paso Cantina brands throughout the Western U.S. In 1994 he joined Prandium Inc. as Director of Real Estate Development where he continued on this path, overseeing the U.S. expansion of CoCo’s/Carrow’s, El Torito, Keystone Grill, ET Express, Chi Chi’s and Koo Koo.

In 2000, Joe joined Retail Net Lease Properties in El Segundo, CA to provide brokerage and consulting services to both landlord clients (Continental Development, RREEF and Madison Marquette) and tenants. Past and present tenant clients include Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Capital Grille and Seasons 52), Il Fornaio, Elephant Bar Restaurants, Mimi’s Cafe, Prandium Inc. (ET Express & Koo Koo Roo), The Counter Burger, Tender Greens, Boston’s Pizza, Lazy Dog, Paul Martin’s American Grill, Pat & Oscar’s, Baja Fresh and Wendy’s Hamburgers.

In 2006 Darden recruited Joe to oversee development of the Red Lobster and Olive Garden brands in the Western U.S. and he remained in-house until 2011, when he joined Main + Main.

Joe is a master in his discipline. He provides sophisticated brokerage and consulting services to Main + Main’s retail/restaurant chains and property owners nationwide. His exclusive client accounts include Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Outback Steakhouse, Brio Tuscan Grille, Raley’s Markets, Kona Grill, and California Fish Grill. His landlord representation has included Continental Development, DJM  and Downtown Summerlin in Las Vegas for the Howard Hughes Corporation.

Mariah Scott

Marketing Coordinator

Mariah Scott has a distinct, contemporary vision that matches Main + Main to a tee. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2015 with a degree in Studio Art, specializing in photography. Her “eye” has captured the music scene throughout Orange County and her promotional images are scattered throughout social media. This, alongside her new role as Marketing Coordinator at Main + Main, places her firmly in today’s culture. .

Mariah joined the firm in February 2017 after a 2-year stint at Hampton Ranch, working in Marketing. Her move was strategic; to her, a marketing role at Main + Main places her squarely in business, but a one with flair. Her creative sensibilities, a love of “everything outdoors,” and an unmistakable passion for retail marketing make Mariah and Main the perfect fit.
